UK publisher saves 'Irish Post'
THE leading newspaper for the Irish community in Britain has been saved.
The 'Irish Post', which closed last month after more than 40 years with the loss of more than 10 jobs, has been bought as a going concern by a UK publisher.
Elgin Loane, which publishes a classified advertising newspaper called 'Loot', bought the title for an undisclosed sum. The liquidator for the newspaper is understood to have been considering up to five bids.
The paper is expected to begin publishing again in a matter of weeks.
The 'Irish Post' was closed down by its previous owners, Thomas Crosbie Holdings, which publishes several titles including the 'Irish Examiner' and the 'Sunday Business Post', amid concerns over declining circulation.
