Two Irish people among injured in serious Barcelona bus crash
Two Irish people are among 24 people who were injured in a bus crash in Barcelona, it is being reported by local media this morning.
The bus was carrying tourists who were on their way to the city's El Prat airport early this morning.
Three of the injured were reported to be in a serious condition after the bus crashed at around 3.10am this morning, during heavy rain, an emergency services spokesperson said.
Locals reports said tourists from Ireland, Britain, Germany, Lituania, Belarus and Spain.
The driver is also reported to be injured.
Fifteen people sustained light injuries, while six people were in 'moderate condition', according to the emergency services.
The bus had been travelling on a ring-road near the waterfront on the way to El Prat airport when the crash happened.
A spokeswoman for the Department of Foreign Affairs in Dublin said its consular staff were looking into reports of the accident.
"We stand ready to provide consular assistance if requested," she said.
The nationalities of the three seriously hurt passengers is not known.
Last night Glasgow Celtic played Barcelona in the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona.
