Tricked teen suicide bomber lived to tell tale

A TEENAGE girl, who was tricked by rebels into attacking a police station in Grozny, has become the latest case in a wave of suicide bomb attacks against Russian forces in Chechnya.

However, Zarema Inarkayeva (15) lived to tell her story after the bomb she was carrying on February 5 misfired.

Suicide raids are being used increasingly by the separatists, who have been thrown on the defensive since Russian forces retook the city two years ago.

Miss Inarkayeva said she was forced into carrying out her mission and had no idea she had become a human bomb.

The police believe her story. "She is just a kid who has been taken advantage of," Colonel Sultan Satuyev said. "Frankly, we do not know what to do with her. If we release her, they could come back and kill her." ( The Times, London)
