A three-year-old girl has died following a collision between a car and a minibus, police said.

The incident happened in Kings Weston Lane in Avonmouth, Bristol, at about 9.15 yesterday morning.

A Toyota Yaris - carrying a woman and two children - was in collision with a Mercedes minibus.

The woman and children were injured and taken to hospital.

One of the children, a three-year-old girl, was kept in hospital but died from her injuries last night.

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: "A 46-year-old man was arrested in connection with the collision and he remains in custody for questioning.

"We're still appealing for anyone who has any information about the collision to contact us."
