King Juan Carlos will be allowed to retain his title of the King of Spain after he abdicates in favour of his son.
A day after Spain's parliament officially voted in favour of allowing the monarch to abdicate, the government drew up plans that will see both Juan Carlos (76) and Felipe VI hold the title of King of Spain.
Queen Sofia will also retain her title despite the new Queen Letizia being on the throne.
Felipe (46) will become king next Thursday in a simple ceremony in front of parliamentarians, accompanied by Letizia (41) and their daughters Leonor (8) and Sofia (7). Princess Leonor will immediately take the title of Princess of Asturias. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
