Russia pushes Snowden to take up asylum
Edward Snowden, the former US intelligence worker wanted in America for leaking details of secret surveillance programmes, should take Venezuela's offer of asylum, his Russian hosts have hinted.
A Russian politician said yesterday that Friday's offer could be Mr Snowden's "last chance" to seek political refuge.
"Venezuela is waiting for an answer from Snowden," said Alexei Pushkov, who heads the international affairs committee in Russia's parliament. "This, perhaps, is his last chance to receive political asylum." (© Daily Telegraph, London)
