Runaway teacher agrees to extradition in court
The teacher who was arrested on suspicion of abducting the schoolgirl Megan Stammers is likely to return to Britain tomorrow after he agreed to extradition in French court.
Jeremy Forrest (30) from Ringmer, East Sussex, was arrested in Bordeaux, south-west France, last Friday, as he and 15-year-old Megan walked "hand in hand" down a street.
The couple had been missing since September 20.
Mr Forrest has been detained in a prison on the city outskirts since his arrest.
Megan, from Eastbourne, returned home to Britain on Saturday.
A European arrest warrant for child abduction had been issued on September 25 following a request by police in Britain.
Mr Forrest told Bordeaux's Appeals Court yesterday that he would not contest the warrant.
His French lawyer, Daniel Lalanne, said he expected his return to Britain to be "very swift" if the judge approved the application.
