Rental €250k Lamborghini stolen by 'woman using Irish passport' is found in shipping container
A €250k Lamborghini that was stolen from a car rental company in Switzerland by a woman using an Irish passport has been found in a shipping container bound for Africa.
The Lamborghini Huracán Spyder was hired by a "well dressed woman using an Irish passport" in Zurich on July 14.
The car was rented for a journey from the Swiss capital to Strasbourg, France but it disappeared en route.
It was last spotted at an IKEA carpark in London with two men inside, thousands of miles away from its agreed destination.
The car rental company's GPS system noticed that the car was in the UK on July 16 and reported the theft to the police in Switzerland and London.
Managing Director of Schweiwiller Automotive Luxury Car Rental, Adriano Scheiwiller told Independent.ie that the woman who stole the car from their company was carrying what appeared to be an Irish passport and dressed like a "typical business woman".
He said: "She was like any other business woman who rents our cars. She had an Irish passport but told us she was from London. We now think that the passport was fake."
The car was tracked down by a private investigator in a shipping container bound for Africa, according to the Sun.
Mr Schweillier told the newspaper that it was a "miracle" it had been found.
The private investigator uncovered a number of vehicles in his search, including an Audi which was bound for West Africa.
