Paris Terror Attacks: Mick Wallace sparks anger on Twitter over Paris terror attacks tweet

Independent TD Mick Wallace has sparked ire on Twitter with a comment made on the social network about tonight's tragedy unfolding in Paris.

Irish twitter users, politicians, journalists and celebrities have all weighed in on the debate which Wallace began by tweeting "so terrible for the victims, but when is France going to stop it's role in the militarisation of the planet?"

Clare Daly, a TD for Dublin North, retweeted the comment, describing the attacks in Paris as "tragedy beyond belief" but asking "it's always the right time to ask why or it will go on".

Mr Wallace, who is a TD for Wexford, attracted anger across the social media platform over his comment.

Twittter user Alan Walsh criticised both Dail deputies for their timing in making the comments.

Fine Gael TD for Galway-East Paul Connaughton weighed in on the debate, writing "@mickwallaceTD perhaps it would be better to hold off on talk of why this happened and hope that no more lives are lost".

His fellow Fine Gael TD Regina Doherty wrote that Wallace and Daly's comments were the "most inhumane response to such a loss of life".
