Owners are killing pets with kindness
MILLIONS of pets are at risk of early death because of poor diets that often include takeaways, crisps and cakes, a report has shown.
Unprecedented numbers of dogs, cats and rabbits are obese from being fed potentially life-threatening meals that can lead to arthritis, diabetes and heart disease, UK-based veterinary charity the PDSA found.
The deadly diets have left animals unable to walk, play or even clean themselves.
The PDSA Animal Wellbeing (PAW) report said nearly half of owners "treat" their pets because they believe it makes the animals feel happy. Nearly a third of owners do so because it makes them feel happy themselves.
