A MOTHER watched in horror as her two-year-old daughter plunged to her death from the fourth floor of a block of flats.
The girl, named locally as Rayaheem Banimuslim, fell from a balcony of a city centre apartment complex in Sheffield.
Glass panelling protecting children from the 60ft drop was missing, investigators said last night.
A family friend said the girl's mother watched as her daughter fell through an opening on the balcony, caused after a glass panel was smashed.
The girl's father, Hikmat, said the family lived on the eighth floor, but the girl was playing in the sunshine on the fourth floor when the tragedy happened.
"My wife called me and told me that our daughter had landed from the fourth floor," Mr Banimuslim said. "There is a small garden on the fourth floor.
"What happened is that the wall of this garden is made of glass panels and some of these glass panels are missing. Rayaheen, my daughter, has fallen down from this."
