Mother of April Jones makes desperate plea for help
APRIL Jones's mother has made a desperate plea for help finding the five-year-old, as police continue to question a man over the little girl's disappearance.
Coral Jones begged for any information that may lead to her daughter being found at a press conference this afternoon.
She said: "We are desperate for any news. April is only five years old. Please, please help find her."
Earlier, Dyfed Powys Police took the unusual step of confirming the identity of the arrested man as Mark Bridger as they released pictures of him and his Land Rover Discovery.
Coral Jones, who was accompanied by her stepfather, April's step-grandfather, Dai Smith, sobbed as she said: "It's been 36 hours since April was taken from us.
"There must be someone out there who knows where she is and can help the police find her. We are desperate for any news.
"April is only five years old. Please, please, help find her."
After her plea, she broke down in tears, holding her head in her hands, and was comforted by Mr Smith as Detective Superintendent Reg Bevan made a further appeal for information.
Mr Bevan said: "We are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry and Mark Bridger is one of them."
He urged anyone who may have seen the Land Rover Discovery, or Mr Bridger, between Monday evening and yesterday afternoon to get in touch by calling the Child Rescue Alert line on 0300 2000333.
"Do not assume somebody else has already contacted us with information. Even if you feel yours is trivial, it may be the vital piece that we are missing."
He said more than 50 volunteers are helping mountain rescue teams in the search for April and police have details of many more who are able to help.
"We are extremely grateful for their help in this search and their support has been vital," Mr Bevan added.
Mrs Jones, wearing blue jeans and a black cardigan over a purple top, was led away in tears after her heartbreaking public plea.
She sobbed as the police family liaison officer took her arm lightly and led her out of the room into an adjoining suite.
