More banger for your buck: 1954 Mercedes sells for €22m
A 1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 made auction history by becoming the most expensive Merecedes ever sold.
The car, in which five-time Formula 1 World Champion Juan Manuel Fangio won two Grand Prix, sold for €22m (£19,601,500) at auction.
The winning bidder will remain anonymous, and Bonhams auction house would not disclose the country, or the continent, the buyer lives in.
And it seemed to be a record day auction, a 1955 Maserati 300S sold for €4.6m (£4,033,500), becoming the most expensive Maserati ever sold.
