Modern muse: Kate portraits for auction
KATE Moss was surrounded by her likenesses yesterday as she launched an auction dedicated to artworks featuring her image, valued at upwards of £1m (€1.2m).
Leading figures such as Sam Taylor-Johnson, Allen Jones and Mario Testino are among those who have used the supermodel as a muse and whose works will be sold by Christie's later this month. Moss is in various states of undress in many of the images, which are due to be sold on September 25.
The selection, with estimated prices ranging from £4,000 (€4,700) to six-figure sums, are mainly photographs and are expected to sell for more than £1m.
Philippe Garner, director of photographs at Christie's, said the sale was a "unique presentation of emblematic works that powerfully capture the very essence of contemporary glamour and style".
The works from the sale – entitled 'Kate Moss: From The Collection Of Gert Elfering' – will also feature in a public exhibition from September 21 to 24.
