Massive police hunt underway as French girl (9) disappears from family wedding
A massive police hunt has been launched for a missing nine-year-old girl who disappeared at a family wedding in France four days ago.
Divers, police dogs and helicopters took part in the search for missing Maelys de Araujo (9).
According to the Telegraph, the young girl has not been seen since around 3:00 am (0100 GMT) on Sunday when she was at the wedding with her parents and other family members in the town of Pont-de-Beauvoisin in the French Alps near the town of Chambery.
Local reports say that the wedding ended frantically after the DJ announced that Maelys was missing.
Regional police chief Yves Marzin said three sniffer dogs had all lost the scent from Maelys’s cuddly toy at "the same spot" in the car park outside the venue.
Police are investigating the theory that Maelys left the scene in a car.
Posters of the chestnut-haired girl with brown eyes have gone up throughout the town and surrounding area and an investigation was opened on Monday into a possible kidnapping.
A massive manhunt is underway in the French town for the young girl.
