A BRITISH man resigned from his job by sending his employers his notice written on a cake.

Chris Holmes resigned from his job at Stansted airport in order to focus on his family and new cake business.

He said in the letter: “Today is my 31st birthday, and having recently become a father I now realise how precious life is and how important it is to spend time doing something that makes me, and other people, happy.

"For that reason I hereby give notice of my resignation in order that I may devote my time and energy to my family, and to my cake business which has grown steadily over the past few years.”

He signed off with a plug for his new cake business, saying: “I wish the organisation and my colleagues the best for the future and I remind you that, if you enjoy this cake, you can order more.”

A picture of the resignation cake was added by his brother-in-law Stuart Jackson to Twitter.

It looks like the resignation cake will pay off for Holmes’ new business – as the image has been re-tweeted over 5,000 times today alone.
