A man was found dead in a 'sex swing' with gas cylinders around his body, police said.

The 53-year-old was discovered at his home in Hove, East Sussex, shortly after 9pm on Friday night.

Neighbours said he man’s body was found by his son and it is unknown if anyone else was with the man when he died.

A sex swing is a type of harness designed to allow sexual intercourse while a partner is suspended.

Users have been known to inhale substances while using swings to heighten the feelings of arousal and nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, has becoming incresaingly popular.

Neighbours living near the house in New Church Road were briefly evacuated as a precaution after the cylinders were found.

A Sussex Police spokesman said it was 'soon determined that there was no threat to public safety' and residents were allowed back into their homes.

“Police are not treating the death as suspicious and the coroner has been informed,” the spokesman added.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service and South East Coast Ambulance Service's Hazardous Area Response Team also attended.
