A man is accused of raping his pregnant partner while she was in the "advanced stages" of labour, a trial in the UK has heard.

The woman was crying with pain just hours before giving birth to their son, the court heard.

The Hull Daily Mail reports how the woman had got on all fours on her bed to ease the pain when she was allegedly attacked by her partner.

The accused, who is not being named to protect the woman's identity, woke up when she began to have contractions at approximately 11.30pm.

The trial heard on Wednesday morning how the man told her he was "feeling horny" when she positioned herself to alleviate the pain and he began to have sex with her.

The jury heard how the woman shouted at the man to stop and was "crying in pain".

He then reportedly offered to run her a bath before she travelled to the hospital and gave birth to their son.

The defendant is denying the couple had sex.

The trial continues at Hull Crown Court.
