A lorry driver is being questioned by police after a 13-vehicle pile-up left three people needing hospital treatment.
The 33-year-old was held on suspicion of causing serious injury by driving dangerously after a trail of destruction was left in London Road, Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
No one suffered life-threatening injuries following the crash, but three people were taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital, South East Coast Ambulance Service said.
Kent Police said the suspect, from Northfleet, remained in police custody as officers appealed for witnesses to contact them.
Sergeant Glyn Walker, of the force's serious collision investigation unit, said: "It is likely that not all witnesses to this collision were spoken to by officers at the scene.
"We are asking anyone who saw the collision, but who may not yet have spoken to police, to get in touch."
Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to free a man and a woman trapped following the crash, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said.
The road has been fully reopened. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Kent Police on 01622 798538.
