Life for 'Ice Lady' who murdered ex-husband and boyfriend and buried them in basement
AN Austrian ice-cream parlour owner has been found guilty of killing her ex-husband and a boyfriend before chopping them up with a chainsaw and burying them in concrete in the basement of her shop.
Goidsargi Estibaliz Carranza Zabala (pictured) pleaded guilty to murdering the two men. A court in Vienna convicted the 34-year-old woman of murder and handed her a life sentence, ordering her to be held in psychiatric care.
Zabala, dubbed the "Ice Lady" by Austrian media, shot the men in 2008 and 2010, putting their body parts in a freezer before burying them in her cellar.
She told the court her ex-husband failed to leave her alone and the boyfriend cheated on her.
Zabala admitted that when Holger Holz refused to move out after their 2008 divorce, she shot him in the head three times while he was working at his computer. She hacked his body apart with a chainsaw and embedded the parts in cement chunks. In 2010, Zabala was dating a new man, Manfred Hinterberger, and the two got into a drunken argument one November night. She believed he was cheating on her.
"He turned his face to the wall and started snoring," Zabala told the court. "I was so angry. I had the gun under the mattress. I took it out, loaded and shot."
