They may have taken their baby son with them to the other side of the world, but Prince William and his wife Kate, pictured, have been pining for a member of the family left behind: their dog, Lupo. Kate, told Brydie Hawke (17) how much she was missing the spaniel after the teen gave her a blue-and-white fluffy toy dog.

"Oh, thank you very much," Kate said after Brydie had waited for six hours outside a gallery in Canberra to hand the gift to her.

PRESENTS

"Everyone gives us presents for George but nobody knows how much I'm missing my own dog. This is the first present I've received for my dog and I'm really happy because I do miss him."

In a farewell speech at the Australian parliament building yesterday, William said he and his family would leave the country "reluctantly".

He told Tony Abbott, the Australian prime minister, and 600 invited guests: "We go away with wonderful memories, and George goes away with his cuddly wombat, which he has taken to chewing so lovingly." (© Daily Telegraph, London)
