Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti said he's satisfied with the results of the Greek elections, which denied power to the parties that would renege on Greece's commitments under its recent bailout program.
"I am very happy about the Greek election results," Mr Monti told reporters.
He was speaking from the resort of Los Cabos, Mexico, where leaders of the Group of 20 nations are gathering for a two-day summit.
He said the vote was "a good sign in general for Europe".
"Even in difficult conditions the Greeks realised the value of Europe. Let's hope that a government will be formed as soon as possible," he said.
