Intruders start fire at London Islamic school
More than 120 pupils were evacuated from an Islamic boarding school in south London after a fire was started by intruders, staff claim.
Two people were treated for smoke inhalation at the Darul Uloom school in Chislehurst after the fire broke out on Saturday at about 11.30pm.
Firefighters were called and the blaze was under control within an hour.
Sayed Mahmood, a spokesman for the school, said the intruders were caught on security cameras in the building, which has previously been targeted.
"We are deeply saddened by the events," he said.
Detective Chief Superintendent Steph Roberts called on the public not to speculate on the cause of the fire but confirmed that it was "being treated as suspicious".
