Hats off to Stella and mum
STELLA McCartney has paid tribute to her late mother on the day she received an OBE by wearing a fascinator which featured her brooch.
The designer, whose father is Beatle Paul McCartney, was honoured by Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham Palace for a highly successful career in the fashion industry.
She chose the occasion to publicly remember Linda McCartney, who died in 1998 from breast cancer, by wearing the fascinator which featured a veil and two brooches sewn into the piece by Irish milliner Philip Treacy.
One belonged to the designer while the other was an antique piece of jewellery that was given to her mother by Paul.
Speaking after the ceremony about her mother's brooch and with her voice wavering, she said: "It was a gift from my father to my mother so I feel like my parents are both here with me."
The designer dubbed the queen "chic" after the monarch presented her with the OBE and she dedicated the award to her team at her fashion label.
