Harris's daughter smashed paintings over sex allegations
Rolf Harris's daughter smashed up several of her father's paintings after learning of his alleged sexual abuse of her childhood best friend, a court heard yesterday.
Bindi Harris was "beside herself" after being told of the accusations against the artist.
She "banged her head against the wall" as she confronted her father over the claims in a heated telephone conversation in 1997 during which she destroyed artworks he had given her.
Mr Harris denies 12 counts of indecent assault between 1968 and 1986, seven of which relate to the friend of his daughter.
Cross-examining Mr Harris (84) Sasha Wass QC, prosecuting, asked him: "She [Bindi] accused you of sexually abusing [the alleged victim] didn't she?"
Mr Harris agreed. He was then asked if he knew his daughter was so upset she "was actually banging her head against the wall".
Mr Harris said he had not been aware of that, but admitted he knew Bindi had destroyed his artwork. The case continues. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
