A toddler has died after being left in a car in sweltering 36C heat for over six hours.

Joseph Kurak had driven to daughter Kristina’s crèche, and believed he had left her there.

However six hours later when he returned to the car to collect her, he saw the toddler’s body in the back seat.

Paramedics were called however they were unable to revive the child.

Police in the town of Nitra in western Slovakia are now investigating how he left her in the car.

She was left in the car between 9am and 3pm.

Police believe she suffocated and burn marks were found on her skin.

A witness said she heard Kurak shouted “I killed her, I killed her.”

A police spokesperson confirmed that Kurak is now under investigation for child abandonment.
