Four jailed for plot to kill Danish journalists
FOUR men were jailed for 12 years each yesterday for plotting a gun attack on a Danish newspaper over its publication of Prophet Mohammad cartoons.
The men, a Tunisian and three Swedish citizens of Arab origin, were caught on police surveillance tapes discussing whether to behead or shoot their intended victims.
The plot was foiled in late 2010 by a joint Danish and Swedish police operation.
Judge Katrine Eriksen said the four had planned to kill as many people as possible at the offices of the Jyllands-Posten, which first published the dozen cartoons seven years ago.
She also ordered that Munir Awad, Omar Abdallah Aboelazm, Munir Ben Mohamed Dhahri and Sabhi Ben Mohamed Zalouti, who had pleaded not guilty to the main terrorism charge, be expelled from Denmark after prison.
