Fears for missing 85-year-old man who started solo charity walk two days ago

An 85-year-old man who set off on a solo charity walk on Thursday has been reported missing.

Laurence Brophy, 85, began his challenge along the Taff Trail from Cardiff to Brecon and back on August 31.

South Wales Police said Mr Brophy, who they described as "a fit and active gentleman", was planning to camp out overnight.

His last known location was in Tongwynlais at midday on Thursday, the day he set off.

A force spokesman said: "Officers are concerned for Mr Brophy's wellbeing and are appealing for anyone who may have seen him along the Taff Trail to contact them.

"Anyone with any information should call South Wales Police on 101 and quote reference 1700343208."

Mr Brophy is from Pencoed, near Bridgend in south Wales.
