Dog-breeding action urged
A REPORT into pedigree dogs that was prompted by an undercover investigation into Britain's Kennel Club has warned that breeding dogs with close relatives causes painful mutations, such as tiny skulls.
Patrick Bateson, a professor of zoology at Cambridge University, also found that puppy farms were often unhygienic and tolerated disease.
The Kennel Club welcomed the report and said it was developing a database to help breeders find healthy mating pairs. (© Independent News Service)
