Dog rescued after he is found buried alive
A man has been arrested in France after a dog was found buried alive up to its head.
The French mastiff dog was rescued by a man who spotted it while walking his own dog through wasteground.
The man, Pedro Dinis, took photographs of the incident, which occurred in Carrieres-sur-Seine, west Paris, and posted them to his social media site.
"Only her head was visible and it was difficult to see given the amount of earth covering her," Pedro said after the discovery.
Authorities traced the owner of the dog and arrested the 21-year-old soon after the find.
According to reports, the man denied burying the dog and said it had 'run away'.
If found guilty of animal cruelty, the accused could be jailed for two years and forced to pay a €30,000 fine.
