Court told of plot to kill 1,000

A BRITISH terrorist gang discussed killing 1,000 people by smearing poisoned hand cream on the door handles of cars.

Irfan Naseer, the alleged ringleader, is accused of saying that people would start dying within five minutes of coming into contact with it when they went to work in the morning. The Islamist group also talked about getting guns from the "black geezers", a court heard.

The al-Qa'ida-inspired gang from Birmingham is accused of plotting eight suicide bombings, using rucksacks packed with explosives in crowded places, to cause "mass death" on the streets of Britain.

Naseer (31), Irfan Khalid (27), and Ashik Ali (27), all unemployed, are the alleged "senior members" among 12 people charged last year.
