FOOTBALL may be a funny old game but horse racing is a serious business, especially if your wife Coleen has dolled herself up to the nines to see her husband's horse take to the course.

The Rooneys are frequent visitors to the racetrack, but this time the couple were there to cheer Wayne's colt Pippy over the finish line.

And cheer they did, alas the horse was impervious to their entreaties and finished, um, last!

Manchester United star Wayne seemed to take the result in his stride, if only his horse had done likewise.

He is seen above with his jockey Richard Kinscote (left) and teammate Michael Owen (right) in the parade ring before the Manor House Stables Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes during the May Festival at Chester Racecourse.

Despite a deluge, Coleen (left) was still looking splendid in white, and was all smiles as she arrived before the start of the ill-fated race.
