Claude Makélélé 'attacked by ex-girlfriend'
Claude Makélélé, the former Chelsea football star, had a violent altercation with a British ex-girlfriend at his home near Paris and both have filed for charges, police have said.
Mr Makélélé, 37, currently the captain of Paris-Saint-Germain, the French first division side, told police that the woman, named by police sources as Thandiwae Ojeer, a 35-year-old Brit, let herself into his house on Wednesday evening while the footballer was at home.
At around 8.30pm, she "took advantage of his open front gate" to get into the premises, the midfielder told detectives, according to Le Parisien.
Once inside, she lunged at him, scratching his face before he "subdued her", he is said to have told them. He has filed an official complaint for "intruding".
Miss Ojeer allegedly denies starting the fight, saying it began while she had come to the house to collect her belongings.
Police said that she suffered bruising to her jaw and was treated at the André-Mignot du Chesnay hospital in the Yvelines area, west of Paris. She has been discharged and been told by doctors to take four days sick leave.
She too has made an official complaint with local police, in her case for assault, following the alleged attack, according to Le Parisien.
Five months ago, Noémie Lenoir, the Marks and Spencer's lingerie model, another former girlfriend of the footballer, tried to commit suicide after he reportedly said he wanted to leave her.
Miss Lenoir - who has an eight-year-old son, Kelyan with Mr Makélélé - later made a full recovery.
