CCTV: Terrified mother catches attempted burglar trying to break into home while children sleep inside Newsdesk Newsdesk

A young mother was left petrified after capturing footage of an attempted burglar trying to break into her home as she and her children slept inside.

Mother-of-two Lisa Mackenzie (30) installed the CCTV cameras to find out what was leaving scratches on her back door.

The care home assistant from Bridgend in Wales said she was left physically shaking when she saw the would-be thief on her property.

“I was sick. I was shaking uncontrollably after watching the video. It’s just the thought that somebody was there and what could have happened if he did get in, if I hadn’t locked the door," she told the Mirror.

“What winds me up is I work hard for what little I have and to think somebody is trying to take it.”

Ms Mackenzie thought it may have been one of her children that caused scratches, but invested in the security camera just to be on the safe side. It had only been installed the previous week.

In the video, the well-hidden invader can be seen pacing in front of the door before using a flashlight to look inside the house. Lisa has since shared the video on her Facebook page to help find the mystery burglar.

“I am not hopeful of catching him but I want to make people aware that there are people out there doing this,” she said.

“I thought I was paranoid. But now I wish I was paranoid."

South Wales Police are investigating the incident and asking anyone with information to get in contact.
