WATCH: Jeremy Corbyn's high-five goes horribly wrong Newsdesk Newsdesk

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn's attempt at giving Emily Thornberry a high-five goes horribly wrong.

The pair were in high spirits in Islington, London as the election results were counted.

It soon emerged that Corbyn earned the highest ever majority for his seat, a hung parliament has been confirmed and Theresa May's future as prime minister is uncertain.

Corbyn and Thornberry were all smiles for the cameras, grinning and shaking hands.

Things got toe-curlingly awkward though for Corbyn when he went to high-five Ms Thornberry but she had already dropped her hand and he ended up hitting her chest instead.

Despite his embarrassing gaffe, Thornberry is still backing Corbyn to be the next prime minister.

She said: "If all of this was an audition to be Prime Minister, Jeremy Corbyn has passed with flying colours."
