Police are appealing for witnesses following the assault of a young woman at Glastonbury Festival last night.

The assault of a woman is said to have taken place on a bridge close to Silver Hayes, a dance music area of the festival site featuring six stages, at 11.30pm on Saturday night.

The Glastonbury Police Twitter account appealed for witnesses this afternoon.

“We need your help after a sexual assault on the bridge close to Silver Hayes at 1130pm last night. If you saw anything, call 101/grab a cop," the tweet read.

"The victim is a woman in her twenties," a spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary told Somerset Live.

"No arrests have been made but our enquiries continue".

Police have asked anyone with any information relating to this incident should get in touch using the 101 number.

Police officers are also patrolling on site to talk in person with anyone with information.
