'I've learnt my lesson' - Teaching assistant begged teenage rape victim not to tell police
A teaching assistant who raped a teenage girl told her he had "learnt his lesson" as he begged her not to tell the police, a court has heard.
Billy Dolphin (20) initially claimed he enjoyed consensual sex with the the girl - who has not been named - but has since confessed to two counts of rape.
Dolphin, from Prescot, near Liverpool, was working as a teaching assistant when he forced himself on the girl.
The Liverpool Echo reports that she was traumatised after the incident and felt unable to return to school.
Texts he sent to his victim were shown in court, one read: "I am actually sorry though but I obviously don’t want you to take it further that does scare me ye all be honest but I actually am sorry...
“I’ve already learnt my lesson.
“I know I’ve done wrong and I feel that bad I don’t wanna be here! Deserve to be dead so why don’t I just go and do it.”
He was jailed at Liverpool Crown Court on Friday for four years and nine months.
