Troubled former football star Paul Gascoigne has been hospitalised following a row at a London hotel.

Reports in the British media suggest Gazza (49) fell down stairs after hitting a fellow customer.

A man identifying himself as Alvin Carpio on social media says he was a witness to the behaviour which led to the emergency services arriving at the Ace Hotel in Shoreditch.

"Paul Gascoigne is behind me causing trouble".

He later added: "It gets crazier: Gazza has just been kicked down the stairs by a guy whose friend got slapped by him. He isn't in a good place."

Gazza who was a former England and Spurs football star was taken to hospital with a head injury.

A UK Police spokesman said: "Police were called at 18.05hr to reports of a disturbance. A 49-year-old man was suffering from a head injury and taken to hospital. There have been no arrests and enquiries continue."

The ex-footballer's spokesman Terry Baker told The Daily Mirror that Gazza was due to be traveling from Newcastle to Bournemouth today.

HE confirmed he had 'been taken to hospital because he has a head wound,' adding: 'He hasn't been arrested. He's about to be released and sent home'.
