Billionaire who hid wife's body 'couldn't bear to be without her'
HANS RAUSING, the Tetra Pak billionaire, watched his wife die surrounded by drug-taking paraphernalia before covering her body in deodorising powder and sealing up her bedroom because he could not bear to be without her, an inquest has heard.
The body of Eva Rausing (48), lay in the couple's £70m (€80m) Chelsea home for two months. The cause of death was registered as due to cocaine toxicity.
Dr Shirley Radcliffe, the coroner, recorded a verdict of death by dependant drug use.
Rausing admitted preventing the lawful and decent burial of his wife and in August was sentenced to 10 months' jail, suspended for two years, with a drug treatment programme.
