Bankers leave woman (91) locked in vault

London Daily Telegraph

A 91-year old French lady was locked in the vault of her local bank for 23 hours after staff forgot her and shut up shop for the weekend.

Only the love of a good son saved the poor old lady from a potentially lethal oversight as the bank only re-opens today.

The unnamed pensioner turned up at her local BNP-Paribas branch in Rennes, western France, on Saturday, asking to have access to her personal safe. An employee escorted the lady and locked her in to the vault. However, at closing time, staff totally forgot about the woman, who has no mobile phone

Unable to reach his mother that night, her son alerted the police. When they finally opened the bank officers "heard a little voice coming from the safe vault", the police chief said. (© Daily Telegraph, London)
