40 years for 'monster' who killed parents
An "evil" killer has been sentenced to at least 40 years in prison for the murders of his mother and father .
Stephen Seddon (46), from Co Durham, England, was branded a "monster" by a judge after blasting his doting parents with a sawn-off shotgun to get his hands on their money.
Seddon was named by his parents Robert Seddon (68) and Patricia (65) as sole beneficiary of their £230,000 (€270,000) estate in their will.
He first tried to drown them by staging an accident and driving a car into a canal, Manchester Crown Court heard, but aborted the plan when bystanders went to the couple's aid.
After that plan failed, armed with a shotgun, he went to their home in Sale, Greater Manchester, last July and murdered them.
