A ROTTWEILER with a taste for strawberries had to undergo surgery after wolfing down the fruit -- along with the spoon it was served on.

Max underwent an emergency operation last month after X-rays revealed the 12.7cm teaspoon lodged in his stomach.

STARTLED Washington drivers weren't seeing things -- it really was a kangaroo hopping down the highway in the US state.

The meandering marsupial nearly caused a couple of accidents at the weekend and police responded, keeping the Kangaroo off the road while its owner tracked it down and caught it with help from friends.

DUBAI has settled on a use for the Queen Elizabeth 2 cruise liner it bought for £64m (€80m) in 2007, with plans to make it into a floating hotel fitted with the original furnishings.

The 300-room hotel is expected to open within 18 months at the city's Port Rashid.

A HUGE crocodile known as Lolong, which brought pride, fear, tourism revenue and attention to the Philippines town where it was captured has now claimed a world record, measuring 6.17 metres.

The giant, blamed for deadly attacks before it was captured last September, is the largest saltwater crocodile in captivity in the world.

Bieber spurns Irish fans on tour

CHART sensation Justin Bieber has lined up his first arena tour in the UK for two years with a series of six shows.

The Canadian singer's 2013 dates on his Believe tour will begin at Manchester Arena on February 19.

The teenage star, whose latest album 'Believe' topped the chart this month, is not playing any shows in Scotland, Wales or Ireland, and is restricting his newly announced shows to English cities.
