Dublin has fallen behind other counties as the number of people claiming the Covid-19 unemployment payment has dropped by almost a third nationwide since the peak in the amount of claims.

The number of recipients of the emergency benefit has dropped by 24pc in the capital since early May - the lowest decrease in any county. Yet numbers on the payment fell by up to 38pc in Wexford and Cavan.
