Boston Marathon runner's search for mystery man ends with letter from his wife
A Boston Marathon runner’s search for a mystery man she kissed during the race ended in surprise when she heard back from the stranger’s wife.
Divorced Barbara Tatge (55) was dared by her daughter to kiss the man and later tried to track him down by posting the photo of them kissing online.
Her daughter said the search received a "great response" on social media but ended when the man’s wife got in touch.
“When this story aired on the news we were pretty surprised,” she wrote in a letter to the Wellesley Townsman.
“For me, I'm not mad. Believe me, our friends have gotten a lot of mileage out of this story and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching them give my husband grief."
In the letter to Ms Tatge she added: “While this may not be the ending that you had hoped for, that spontaneous, silly moment in Wellesley captured the fun, energy and spirit of the Boston Marathon."
"I greatly admire your spunk and courage and wish you many happy races in the future. Congratulations on your Boston finish!"
Ms Tatge apologised for any embarrassment the photo caused the couple, adding the letter was “kind and good-hearted”.
