Bollywood actor Sridevi Kapoor died due to “accidental drowning” in a bathtub, according to a forensic report seen by local media.

Dubai Police released the report to family, revealing traces of alcohol were found in the 54-year-old’s body.

Gulf News reports she accidentally lost balance and fell into the bathtub and drowned.

Sridevi - whose death was first reported over the weekend - was attending her nephew’s wedding in Dubai with her husband, film producer Boney Kapoor, and daughter Khushi.

Initial reports claim Kapoor and Sridevi attended dinner together at 5.30pm on Saturday (24 February) before the actor went to the bathroom to prepare for the evening.

Khaleej Times reports Kapoor forced himself into the room after receiving no response, only to find Sridevi ”lying motionless in a bathtub full of water”.

Sridevi was born Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan and made her Bollywood debut at the age of four in 1975 drama Julie.
