An overloaded boat carrying Hindu devotees capsized in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, leaving at least 21 people dead and 20 missing.
At least 60 people were packed onto the boat, which was crossing the Yamuna River in Aurriya -- 185 miles from the state capital Lucknow-- when it capsized. Police said roughly 20 people swam to shore.
US aid worker in Pakistan is freed
An American aid worker abducted more than two months ago in Pakistan is on his way home.
UN spokeswoman Jennifer Pagonis said John Solecki left on a special medical flight after spending the night in a military hospital. Mr Solecki, who headed the UN refugee agency's operations in Quetta, was found yesterday after being freed.
Egypt jails couple over sex parties
A married Egyptian couple has been sentenced to five and seven years in prison for having sex out of wedlock with other people they met through internet postings.
Tolba Abdel Hafez got seven years and his wife Salwa Hegazi got five years after being convicted. They were arrested last October after posting advertisements on the internet and soliciting other couples for sex parties.
Somali pirates seize German ship
Officials say Somali pirates have seized a German ship in the hazardous waters off the lawless east African nation.
A spokesman for the German Defence Ministry confirmed the attack in the Indian Ocean but did not have further details.
Two rare blonde hedgehogs freed
Two rare blonde hedgehogs were released into the wild after being rescued last year, the RSPCA said today.
The two hedgehogs, one male and one female, were brought to the animal welfare charity's Stapeley Grange Wildlife Centre and Cattery in Nantwich, Cheshire, after they were found wandering around during the day.
