Barack Obama arrives in Cuba in first visit by US president for almost 90 years

President Barack Obama has arrived in Cuba for a historic visit in an effort to forge new ties between the United States and its one-time foe.

Air Force One landed in Havana with Mr Obama accompanied by first lady Michelle Obama and their daughters, Malia and Sasha, as well as a group of American politicians and business leaders.

Mr Obama will greet staff at the new US Embassy and then join his family for a tour of Old Havana.

On Monday, Mr Obama will hold talks with Cuban president Raul Castro and also hold an event with US and Cuban entrepreneurs.

Mr Obama is the first US president to visit Cuba in nearly 90 years.
