Baldwin hit by tax bill

Hollywood star Stephen Baldwin has admitted in court that he failed to pay New York state income tax for three years. The 'Usual Suspects' actor agreed to pay $400,000 (€312,000) in back taxes, interest and penalties.

Baldwin – the youngest of the four acting brothers – pleaded guilty to a charge of repeated failure to file income taxes. The judge said that if Baldwin pays back the money within a year, the charge would be taken off his record.

Cows storm town

Austrian police and firefighters have taken on the role of urban cowboys in a two-day round-up of a herd of cows that broke out of their field and went into town.

The 43 animals defied attempts to recapture them after wandering into the town of Freistadt and stampeding on to a two-lane highway. Police said 18 of the animals remained on the loose yesterday. The rest have been rounded up or tranquillised.

Boxer in gun arrest

Boxer Robert Guerrero has insisted his May 4 fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr will go ahead despite his arrest at New York's Kennedy Airport for trying to bring a gun on a plane.

The WBC welterweight champion faces charges including criminal possession of a firearm. Authorities say Mr Guerrero presented a locked gun box to a ticket agent at check-in. The gun was not legal to carry in New York.

Singer stages sit-in

Singer Michelle Shocked staged a sit-in at a venue in Santa Cruz, California, after her show was cancelled. Moe's Alley called off a gig by the alternative folk and rock singer after she made what were considered anti-gay comments during an outburst at a show earlier this month.

But that didn't stop Shocked from showing up at the venue where she staged a sit-in, sitting on the ground, strumming her guitar, with tape across her mouth that read 'Silenced By Fear'.

Actress Britt Ekland claims Hollywood heartthrob Warren Beatty tried to seduce her by taking her to see a porn film.

And she suggested that his technique did the trick – as both left the cinema and headed to a hotel. She told of their encounter and the terrible effect her split from Rod Stewart had on her life in an interview with 'Piers Morgan's Life Stories'.
