Baby girl for Princess Stephanie
PRINCESS Stephanie, often portrayed as the black sheep of Monaco's ruling Grimaldi dynasty, gave birth to a baby girl yesterday, the palace press office said.
The 33-year-old princess is divorced and has two children from her previous marriage. The palace did not say who was the father of the new baby.
The child was named Camille Marie Kelly and will take the prestigious Grimaldi surname. She was born at the Princess Grace Hospital within the tiny Mediterranean principality.
``Camille saw the light of day at 9.23am (0723 GMT). Mother and baby are both doing well,'' the palace said.
Stephanie is the third child of Prince Rainier of Monaco and US film star Grace Kelly, who died in a car crash in 1982. Stephanie was alone with her mother in the car at the time of the accident but escaped with light injuries.
As an adult, the statuesque Stephanie has rarely been out of the gossip columns. She sent a shudder through Monaco's high society when she started dating her then bodyguard, Daniel Ducruet, in the late 1980s.
They had two children out of wedlock Louis in 1992 and Pauline in 1994 before a reluctant Prince Rainier finally let the couple marry in 1995.
The marriage collapsed after just 15 months, when Italian magazines published photographs of Ducruet cavorting by a poolside with a striptease artist. The gossip columns reveqled last year that the princess had found a new flame Raymond Gottlieb, a former ski instructor. However, the relationship reportedly broke up earlier this year.
