Baby girl dies after grandmother leaves her in hot car
A baby girl has died after she was left in a hot car by her grandmother.
The grandmother forgot the four-month-old child was in the car and left her there for hours while she was working.
Oklahoma County sheriff's office spokesman Mark Opgrande said investigators called to the car park of a daycare facility in Luther found the child dead in the car's back seat.
Mr Opgrande said the grandmother has custody of the infant and intended to drop her off at the daycare on her way to work in Oklahoma City, where the outside temperature reached 31C (88F).
When she arrived at the daycare to pick up the child, she realised she had left her in the car all day.
The grandmother was released, but Mr Opgrande said a report will be forwarded to prosecutors to consider charges.
